CANADIAN AGENCIES WIN 13 STATUES AT PRESTIGIOUS LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

(London, November 10, 2008) – - Eleven agencies in Canada were recognised for their superior entries to the 2008 London International Awards held at the Hippodrome this evening. Now in its 23rd year, London International Awards continues to honour excellence in advertising, design and digital media.

The 11 companies that won Gold and Silver Statues include:

Grey Istanbul won a Silver Statue with their entry 'Google Search Tips' for Utilities, Radio.

BBDO Canada won a Gold Statue in Automotive, Print;

GJP Advertising won a Gold Statue in Environmental Design;

Grey Canada won three Gold Statues in It didn't Run Radio;

Ogilvy & Mather, Toronto won a Gold Statue in Integrated Media;

Tribal DDB, Toronto won a Gold Statue in Digital Media;

Doug Agency, Toronto won Silver Statue in Entertainment, Television/Cinema;

John St, Toronto won a Silver Statue in Direct Mail Business-to-Business;

Taxi Canada, Toronto won a Silver Statue in Television/Cinema;

Wax, Calgary won a Silver Statue in Television/Cinema;

Y&R, Toronto won a Silver Statue in Television/Cinema; and

Zync Communications, Toronto won a Silver Statue in Design.

"It's good to see Canada keeping up the standard of the competition. This is evident not in just one media but across the board," observed Barbara Levy, President of London International Awards.

Of the 17,969 total submissions from 81 countries, only five percent (5%) reached Finalist status. From that elite group, 1.4% attained Silver status and only 0.7% were awarded Gold Statues. The vast number of submissions reflects the prestige and explosive growth of the London International Awards since its inception in 1986 when 2,600 submissions were considered.
