Colenso BBDO Captures a Grand Prize,
Two Gold and Three Silver Statues

(London, November 10, 2008) – Leo Burnett India, Mumbai was the big winner from India with five Gold and four Silver Statues. They were recognised for their superior entries to the 2008 London International Awards held at the Hippodrome this evening. Now in its 23rd year, London International Awards continues to honour excellence in advertising, design and digital media.

Leo Burnett India, Mumbai won five Gold Statues; three in with 'Hitler', 'Charlie' and 'Che' for Luxor Highlighters in Posters, Design and two Gold Satues with their entry 'Blue' and 'Pink' for Luxor Highlighters in Office Equipment, Print; three Silver Statues for Luxor Highlighters in Office Equipment, Print and one Silver Statue for Tide Detergents in Consumer Campaign, Print;

Nirvana Flims, Bangalore won two Silver Statues with their entry 'Gas' for Neo Sports in Sound Design and Media Promotion, Television/Cinema; and

Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai won three Silver Statues for Campaign, Radio, Campaign, Television/Cinema and Media Promotion, Television/Cinema.

"India has traditionally been strong in Print, Poster and Outdoor. In 2007, India did well in Television/Cinema and this year, they've won several Gold Statues in Design," said Barbara Levy, President of London International Awards. "Kudos to the agency... there weren't many Gold Winners in Design. In fact, all of our jury panels around the world for all media were very cautious about handing out Gold and Silver Awards. Only the best were considered for that honour."

Of the 17,969 total submissions from 81 countries, only five percent (5%) reached Finalist status. From that elite group, 1.4% attained Silver status and only 0.7% were awarded Gold Statues. The vast number of submissions reflects the prestige and explosive growth of the London International Awards since its inception in 1986 when 2,600 submissions were considered.
